JaBu

Without a doubt, the JaBu is the most innovative sailboat for children on the market today. The JaBu is the result of 25 years of experience teaching children to sail in sailingschools. We can summarize the development of the JaBu as following;

Due to some bad features of the dinghies designed for children in the recent past, 20 years ago it was decided that there was a great need for a dinghy that didn't have the negative features but did have the positive features of known dinghies like the Optimist. The result was a wooden boat which was rigged with an Optimist sail. The main feature of this wooden predecessor of the current JaBu was its double floor and self-bailing hull.

Yet the wooden JaBu did have the same disadvantage that most other small boats had as well. Like the polyester Optimist, the wooden JaBu was vulnerable to being damaged. With the introduction of the polyethylene JaBu, that problem was solved! The current JaBu is virtually indestructable and completely maintenance free. Like the shape of the hull, the blades of the JaBu are high-tech as well. No simple wooden blades, but modern, aerodynamic, plastic blades that are incredibly stiff.

It won't come as a surprise that there are many sailingschools that are trading in there fleet of Optimists for JaBu's.

JaBu, keeps sailing funny!
